Introduction to Workstation Set-Up

As a Web Developer, one of the first things I learned was to never edit a live site. This is a huge no-no. Things get deleted, errors occur, visitors get angry, you get the picture. Editing a live site is just never a good thing, even if you are extremely careful ,things can just go wrong for no apparent reason.

So because it's a huge no-no, I will be making a series of 7 blog posts outlining different aspects of setting up your very own development workstation. These tutorials will be useful for anyone looking to get started, whether it be at home or at work.

The 7 different sections I will go through are How To:

1. Install Apache and configure two virtual hosts
2. Install PHP 5
3. Install MySQL Community Server (5.5)
4. Install PhpMyAdmin
5. Install an FTP Server and create two users.
6. Install IIS and create two sites.
7. Install ASP.net
